Using a Gate Fold Brochure in Postcard Advertising

There are a wide variety of postcard designs and formatting to choose from. If you’re a business owner, you may choose to send larger or smaller postcards rather than the standard-sized postcards used by many companies.
If you want to be a different, you may send gate-folded brochures or postcards from time to time depending on the message of your postcard marketing campaign. In this article, let’s take a closer look at gate folded postcards and how to use them more effectively.
Why Use A Gate Folded Brochure or Postcard
The single, back-to-back page postcard is great for announcing special events that are happening in your shop. For instance, you may be celebrating your shop’s anniversary with a sale and you want to invite people to come to your shop and celebrate this special occasion with you. A back-to-back page postcard works well for this purpose since you don’t really need to print out a very long message for this one.
However, there may be instances where you’ll need more space to write on and back-to-back page postcard may not be enough. In this case, you may choose to use the gate-folded style postcard. So how do you create a gatefold style postcard?
You may use a rectangular postcard paper of your preferred size. A gatefold style postcard has two folds that meet in the middle. The two panels create a door or a gate that opens up to reveal the inner page. This is why it’s called the gatefold style. The folds create sections to give you even more spaces to print on.
The doors or the panels spice up the packaging of the postcard since it invites the recipient to take a peek inside to learn more. However, unlike an enveloped business letter, it doesn’t look bulky and it’s easy to flip the panels open. Gatefolded postcards are great for introducing a new product or service to your market since it allows you to put in more content inside the page.
Pages of Gate Folded Brochures or Postcards
The inner section of the gate folded postcard is obviously where you write your main content.
If you’re introducing a new product, this is where you can stress the unique features and benefits they can get. This is the section where you can offer discounts or freebies to your first customers. Do not forget to use call-to-action words that tell your recipient exactly what they should do. You can include your contact details in the same middle page or you can use the inner flaps to print this information.
For the outer panels or the doors of your postcard, this is where you can place a picture or text that grabs attention and provokes curiosity. Remember, you’ll want the reader to be interested enough to open up the doors and read the rest of your message inside. Since the doors or outer panels make up your cover page, you should take time thinking of the perfect concept or design to make your postcard look appealing to your target market.
