If people are not interested or have no need of what you offer, you’re most likely to end up with unimpressive results.

If you want to use postcard marketing to promote your business, don’t forget to do research before launching your campaign.  Consider these three pointers on how to successful market with postcards.

Start with the Right Mailing List

Start with the right mailing list or list of prospects.  Who do you plan to send your postcards to?  Who are more likely to pay attention to the products and services you offer?  Who are most likely to respond to your postcard advertising?

Simply knowing who your target market is isn’t enough.  You need to know the best way to reach out to them.  Do you know their mailing addresses?  Are you sure that they will receive the postcards you’ll send?

Distributing postcards to the wrong market may not give you the results you expect.  For instance, if you’re selling children’s clothing, you’ll want to make sure that your postcards will reach mothers who are most likely to buy your collection.  Sending out these postcards to yuppies or bachelors would surely not be an effective way to advertise.
