Organization – A Must for Every Home Business
Managing home based internet businesses involve a lot of different tasks. As the owner, it is your duty to see through these tasks on your own, unless you hire additional workers. In this post, let’s talk about practical organization tips that will surely make your business much easier to handle:
Sort your files and label them accordingly. Avoid adding unnecessary stress to yourself by arranging your documents according to categories. You can organize your files by date or by type so that when you need to take it out for reference, you won’t have to spend hours trying to find it. Label all your folders and keep your files in a drawer or on a shelf.
Clean up your work desk. A cluttered work desk can add strain to the mind while a clean, organized space makes way for a more relaxing environment. Make your work station clutter free by using organizers or containers to put in your stuff.
For example, a 3-layered tray can be a great tool for sorting out your paperwork according to their urgency. Documents that call for immediate attention can sit on the topmost tray, while those that can wait until the next day or by the end of the week could rest at the middle and bottom trays.
Paperclips, rubber bands, ruler, stamp pads, fasteners, puncher, and other office supplies can be kept in one drawer. Bond papers, envelopes, folders, and other filing materials should be kept in a separate shelf or drawer. Pen, pencils, markers and other tools used for writing can be placed in a box or tumbler for easy access.
Keep related devices near each other. It is a good idea to place machines that work together near each one for convenience. For instance, you can set your printer, fax machine, photocopier, and scanner on one long table in your office.
Hence only your desktop or laptop occupies your main work desk. This organization strategy can save you time and energy since you won’t have to move back and forth or from one corner to another when preparing documents.
Another tip is to place an extension phone in the opposite area of your home office so you can easily answer calls when you’re not on your desk.
