New Email Marketing Tips for the Online Marketer
Direct mail marketing is a tried and tested technique that can really boost the sales performance of a business. Below are some tips on how you can use this method more effectively not only offline but online as well.
How can you make your e-mails more effective? Here are some online marketing tips focusing on the more efficient ways of sending e-mail newsletters to your prospects:
Collect e-mails. Place an e-mail field on your website where visitors can simply type in their e-mails and click submit if they would like more information. Use descriptive words that urge readers to take action such as “Subscribe Now”, “Click Here”, “Get More Information”, “Submit Now”, etc. Also, don’t forget to provide your own business e-mail address to answer customer queries. Make sure that each page of your site contains an e-mail field where visitors can see the at once.
Respond to e-mails right away. Don’t open an e-mail if you don’t have the time to respond. Instead, set definite hours in day where you will be exclusively reading and responding to the e-mails you received.
From who? Put your company name in the “from” field of your e-mail so that recipients can instantly know who the e-mail is from. This also helps a lot in attaining customer recognition.
HTML or text? You can use any form with your business e-mails. However, don’t use complicated HTML codes with too many files and images. First of all, they take a long time to download and second, some e-mails block HTML versions. If you’re using text, make sure it contains the links and shortcut links to the appropriate web pages you direct them. Make sure that all your links are properly working.

Which Browser? Make sure that your links will work regardless of the browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc.) or the e-mail client (Outlook, Lotus Notes, Gmail, Yahoo!) that your recipients use in opening their mails.
Know their preferences. Ask your customers how they would like to receive their email. Would they like to receive daily, weekly or monthly updates? Would they like an HTML or plain text formatting? Make it easy for them by providing check boxes beside their choices. See to it that you’ll be following the preferences they’ve selected.
Proofread e-mails. Before sending your business e-mails, make sure that you have checked the mail for possible typographical or grammatical errors.
Additional Features. Provide a link where a user can simply click on in case he/she wants to forward the e-mail to others. Also, provide a print option so that users can conveniently print the mail if they want to.
Always include a subscription button as well in all your e-mails so that new recipients can conveniently subscribe for updates if they choose to. Moreover, along with the subscription link, don’t forget to include an unsubscribe link. This way, new readers will not hesitate to try subscribing to your e-mail newsletters since they know they can unsubscribe easily at any time.
