Improving Your Postcard Marketing Plan
A well-made postcard can surely help increase your sales or urge prospective clients to visit your website. Using postcards to market a business has proved to be very effective if used the proper way. Below are some ways on how you can improve your postcard marketing plan without spending too much:
Concentrate On Your Mailing List. Some entrepreneurs make the mistake of distributing postcards to everyone. Although there is nothing wrong with that, you should also keep in mind that not everyone would be interested in what you. Remember, each postcard you send should generate positive response so make sure that your recipients have genuine interest in your product or services.
Try To Make A ‘Friendlier” Postcard. Some consumers are growing tired of postcards that do nothing but to advertise. Of course, the main reason why you are sending out postcards is to market your business but try not to be too obvious about it. Make your messages more personal to get positive responses.
Send Postcards By First Class Mail. A First Class Mail takes 3-5 business days to deliver and will be returned to you at no extra charge if undelivered while a Standard Mail can take up to 2-3 weeks and if undelivered, it will be discarded without notifying the sender.
Be sure to send your postcards by First Class Mail instead of Standard Mail. It will cost a few more cents but you can be sure that all your postcards will reach the recipients.
Timing is important. It is a fact that the volume of mails delivered in the US is usually lighter on Tuesdays or Wednesdays so it is advisable to send your postcards during these days to avoid competing with other mails delivered at the same time. Monday is usually a very busy day for post/mail offices so it is best to avoid sending postcards at this time of the week.
Get Straight to the Point. Make sure that your postcard contains messages that are brief and easy to read. Postcard marketing is more effective because many people does not like to read long letters.
Use Postcards To Motivate Readers. A postcard has limited space so never try to use it to close sales. Instead, just state some of the major benefit/s your company or product has to offer. The last part of your postcard should include your contact details (i.e. business phone numbers, website, etc) so the recipient would know where to reach you once they decide to avail your products or services.
Make Your Postcards Simpler. If you are on a limited budget, it is best not to make complicated designs that have too much colourful graphics for it will cost you more in printing them. Make a simple design with a short but precise message that will attract prospective readers and customers. You can print this using your own computer or hire a commercial printer.
Remember, successful postcard marketing can be cost-effective. That depends on how well you manage your mailing list, design your layout and compose your message.
