Marketing through classified ads is a tried and tested method done used to promote a business. In the past, classified ads are limited to newspapers, magazines and other printed publications.  Nowadays, online classified ads are also available.

Millions of people all over the world surf the internet for information and if you want to reach out to a larger audience, online classified listing is the way to go. When people are looking for anything, all they have to do is type in the keyword of the product or service they need and instantly get results.  If you are part of the classified listing, people can easily be directed to your business website.

What makes an effective Classified Ad?

Just as it is important to be precise in offline advertising, online classified ads become more effective when executed correctly. An effective ad uses attention-grabbing words. Words that make people want to click on the ad and find out more. Examples of attention-grabbing words are “Free”, “How to”, “Secrets to”, “Try now”, etc. Using these terms in your headlines will surely spark curiosity and attention.

Don’t forget to include in your ad the benefit or the advantage of the products or services you offer. Why should people use your products? What’s in it for them? These are important questions that should be answered in your ad listing.

Lastly, remember that an ad is meant to be short and concise. Don’t flood your ads with too many unnecessary words. People will not waste their time reading very long advertisements. Get your point across directly with well-chosen words that best describes your business.
