How to Increase Customer Response through Direct Mail Postcards

The effectiveness of postcard marketing cannot be denied.  Today, even internet marketers use postcards to reach out to people.  Let’s discuss pointers on how you can increase your customer’s response through postcard advertising:

Use a strong headline. You only have a few seconds to capture the recipient’s attention.  If your headline is weak, your postcard might not be read at all.  So spend time in conceptualizing the perfect headline.

Use call-to-action words. Call-to-action words or phrases are straight-to-the-point and specific.  What exactly do you want the recipient to do after reading your postcard?  Should they call you, drop by your store, or check out your website?  These actions need to be clearly spelled out on your postcards.

Stress the benefits. If you’re introducing a new product, why should they buy that product?  If you want your recipient to check out your new website, what can they gain from it?  People are always interested to learn about the benefits and it must be clearly emphasized in your message.

Choose your image carefully. Pictures can enhance postcards.  Using graphics can also help the recipient remember your message.  However, you need to make sure that the image you use supports the idea or the message on the card.

Focus on just one idea. Don’t try to put in too many things on your postcard.  Since there is just a limited space, you’ll want to use that space conveying just one idea.

Send to the right people. See to it that your postcards reach the right people.  Otherwise, you could just be wasting your money and your time.  If you don’t have your own mailing list, consider purchasing from a reputable mailing list broker.

Resend your postcards. The great thing about postcard marketing is that testing results can be done more easily.  For example, your postcards can double as discount coupons that your customers can take with them to the store or use online.  If you send out 100 postcards and you received 50 orders with discount codes, that’s a 50% return of your investment.
