Browse the web and you’ll find hundreds of home based business opportunities to join in.  But before grabbing an offer, read this checklist on how to distinguish a real home based online business.

No guarantees. The success of a business will greatly depend on correct management and good market response. Needless to say, no one can give a hundred percent assurance that a business will succeed.  Ultimately, you will need to work hard to make it work.

Is not a quick-rich scheme. Scammers use the money-bait to attract people to join in.  However, if a company promised you huge earnings without doing any real work, then chances are, you are dealing with a fraudulent business.  Indeed, any business that does not require your time and energy is most likely to be a scam.

Has good record with the BBB. Before signing up, you can check from the Better Business Bureau if there were complaints from other people who have tried to invest in the company.  A legitimate home based internet company should have a good record with a BBB.

Has a good reputation. If it is a new company, then it can be difficult to check the company reputation.  This is why it is recommended to look for a company that has been in the industry for at least 5 years or longer so you can have the option to check its record and history.

Can be reached in person. A physical address is a basic requirement for a business to acquire license from the local government.  Check the company’s contact information, particularly the telephone number and the exact business location.

Does not demand payment with nothing in return. Are you being asked to submit an upfront payment in order to join?  Are you encouraged to make a significant amount of investment without getting any product in return?  Watch out for businesses that do not have any real products or services to offer.

Sells real products. You need to understand the products that you will be marketing before joining a home business.  Aside from checking the quality of the products, carefully consider if there is sufficient demand for those products in the market?

Will not force you to make a rush decision. Avoid online home business advertisements that say, “Sign up Now or Lose Your Chance to Become a Millionaire” or other similar ads.  A solid home based internet business company should be strong enough to stay alive for a long time.  You should never be forced to make a quick decision or you will lose the opportunity to earn a decent income.
